What are the main functions of a disc brake lock?

Why are my disc brakes locking up?

1. Rusted or Stuck Piston: After prolonged disuse or water ingress, the piston inside the brake caliper can rust, resulting in a non-returning brake and a locking phenomenon.
2. Degraded Seal: Degraded, swollen, or deformed rectangular rubber seals can prevent the piston from returning smoothly, also causing lockup. 3. Damp brake fluid or high water content: Water mixed with brake fluid creates air lock at high temperatures, affecting the normal movement of the piston.
4. Rust and adhesion of brake discs or brake pads: After rain or long-term parking, the surface of the brake discs and brake pads rusts, increasing friction abnormally and making the vehicle prone to locking.
